Prostate long term treatment with androgens

Precise long term treatment of andropause disease with androgens stabilize the prostate.

From 1990 to 2000, the first precise study on the long-term action of androgens on the prostate was carried out on a historical series of patients treated by Doctor Georges Debled.

In summary : 30 men were treated without interruption with androgens for a period from 4 up to 10 years.

Conclusions of this clinical study never were contradicted since 40 years:

Evolution of prostate volume under continuous therapy with androgens  over 30 cases
  Prostate volume Number of cases
 Stabilisation 21
Diminution 6
Augmentation 3
  • There was no cancerous transformation. A precisee therapy with androgens induces normality in  prostate cells.(Download)

  • This study should be taken back on a great series while being based on the study of the pool of androgens.

  • By adapting the therapy with androgens according to the pool of androgens it is generally possible to regularize prostate and to decrease the rate of PSA even when this one is around 6 ng/ml. Prostate is then under control and does not require biopsy.

In 2007, Morgunov LIu and his collaborators publish a study among 49 patients having received testosterone undecanoate without interruption during one year for erectile insufficiency. There was no prostatic disorder for patients carrying an adenoma and there was no trace of a beginning  prostate cancer. Download pdf.(2)

En 2012,  Feneley MR, Carruthers MR publish a study on the detection of  prostate cancer in 1365 men (old from 28 to 87 years -average age 55 years) treated continuously with androgens for one period going back sometimes to 20 years. They concluded that the monitoring of the prostate under continuous treatment with androgens is safe and improves early detection of prostate cancer whose frequency is the same one as in the whole of the population. In 2012, Aversa A and its collaborators show the beneficial effects of testosterone on the osseous density. 60 men (average age 57± 10) were treated for 36 months without interruption with testosterone without causing side-effect.(4).

In 1994, Gooren demonstated the safety with androgens' therapy. (5) Download pdf.
